What are Silk Caps?
Caps are made from degummed cocoons that have been stretched into a cap-shape over an arched bamboo slat--or 'upside down U'. 

Ten cocoons are pulled over the frame to make one cap. Enough caps are stacked on top of each other until the pile weighs about 500 gm (1lb).  A 500g pile of Silk Caps is called a "bell".

Our caps vary a bit in size--the industry average of a silk bell is 500g.  We charge by the gram, so if your cap is a bit lighter, you’ll pay a bit less and if your cap is a bit heavier, you’ll pay a bit more.  Most of our bells are about 480g
