Kit - Rigid Heddle Limited Edition "65 Roses" Silk Scarf Kit

Price: $89.95

LIMITED EDITION Rigid Heddle "65 Roses" Silk Scarf Weaving Kit  (uses 10 dent heddle)

Treenway Silks donates a minimum of 10% of sales of the 65 Roses Silk Scarves Kit in honor of Andrea's angels to help find a cure for CF (more info below in 65 Roses Back Story)

We wanted to add a 65 Roses Rigid Heddle scarf to our array of 65 Roses silk weaving kits.

I asked the fabulous Peg MacMorris to design something special for us.  And, as usual, Peg has knocked this one out of the park!

This scarf uses a limited edition dyed 65 Roses "Guiding Spirit" yarn--the variegated stripes. Guiding Spirit is a rose that inspired this colorway.

VERSION #1 (see green scarf photos): Peg added some "roses" ("rose fashion" is a treadling order most often used with overshot) in the stripes, using pick-up technique.

There are 6 Roses in one stripe, and 5 Roses in the other stripe, weaving "65 Roses"  (get it?!  Peg's so clever!)

VERSION #2 (see rose scarf photos): Peg decided to add the 6-5 roses in the center stripe.

With both versions, Peg wove the "roses" on just one end of the scarf, but if you love pick up, you could weave more roses ramdomly throughout the scarf.

As with all 65 Roses items, Treenway Silks donates at least 10% to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, in honor of Andrea's angels, to help fund research for a cure.

And, as a limited edition kit, when they're gone, they're gone!

65 ROSES BACK STORY:
Over 20 years ago, Susie Rider and I worked together while she was pregnant with her first child, Andrea.  When Andrea was about 4.5 years old, her "failure to thrive" was finally diagnosed as cystic fibrosis (CF), an incurable disease.

What inspires me to support Andrea's angels is Susie channeled her grief and pain over Andrea's diagnosis into fighting for a cure.  Susie organized Andrea's angels (Aa) and has been tirelessly raising funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for a cure ever since!!

You don't realize it, but you also "know" Susie, too, as she designed the Treenway Silks logo and she designs all our print ads and other graphic needs.

Treenway Silks began designing "65 Roses" ribbon colors in 2017.  Over the years, we've expanded 65 Roses to include threads, yarns and weaving kits.

The "65 Roses" story dates back to 1965 when an observant 4-year-old, hearing the name of his disease for the first time, pronounced cystic fibrosis as "65 Roses." Today, "65 Roses" is a term often used by young children with cystic fibrosis to pronounce the name of their disease.
