LIMITED EDITION 8-shaft "Shade Garden" shawl Kit as featured in Handwoven 2019 Loom Theory: 8-shaft Shawl Collection.

Susan Porter designed this generously-sized, gorgeous shawl in networked twill weave structure.  Such a  wonderful drape and hand! 

Here's what Susan says about our Silken Cloud yarn:
   "I think a summer shawl should be versatile since we continually move from air conditioned spaces into the warmer outdoor temperatures then back again into cool air.
   "The 70% silk / 30% cotton blend of Treenway Silks’ Silken Cloud yarn is the perfect blend and weight for such a shawl.
   "The cotton blended into the yarn gives it a glow instead of the shine we usually associate with silk.  Because of this, this shawl can be either elegant or casual depending on what you pair it with.
   "The feel of this yarn is so soft and the drape is so lovely that it’s easy to imagine an entire wardrobe woven with it!"

COLOR
Susan adds richness and depth by alternating two similar values of blue and green in the warp (#214 Glacier and #317 Green Tourmaline). This effect is particularly effective with the fine grist (skinny) yarn selected.  Susan then adds even more interest by inserting purple (#49 Purple Rain) stripes.

By using a navy weft (#4 Rendezvous Blue), this combination of colors is truly reminicent of a lovely shade garden...reminds me of all our magnificent Iowa hosta garden in full bloom, before we moved to Colorado.

KIT
We are so in love with this shawl...and such a generous size to wrap around yourself!  Finished width is 18.75" and the woven length is 85", plus 5.5" twosted fringe on each end.

Please note--the weaving draft and instructions are ONLY available in Handwoven 2019 Loom Theory: 8-shaft Shawl Collection (page 12) Unfortunately, we cannot include the draft with the kit
