photo: "65 Roses Crazy Love" 4-shaft Eri Silk scarves. Huck Lace meets Color-and-Weave in these lovely scarves.
Treenway Silks donates a minimum of 10% of sales of the 65 Roses Silk Scarves Kit in honor of Andrea's angels to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis.
Robin Wilton is the designer and weaver of the original "Periwinkle" version of "Huck Lace meets Color & Weave" scarves; we were talking one day that rather than create a new design, it might be fun to take a great design and re-imagine it.
So rather than just change colors, we decided to change the silk yarn, too. We decided to try Omshanti, Eri Silk, size 20/2, rather than our most popular "Kiku" 20/2 spun silk.
Eri Silk is more matte than Kiku, yet it still has a sheen. Eri Silk has the wonderful properties of keeping the wearer cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
SELECTING THE ROSE INSPIRATION:
We perused rose catalogs for varieties in cheerful colors that were in abundance at the 2024 Rose Bowl parade.
I showed a few of the roses to Andrea (for whom we fundraise for a cure for cystic fibrosis) and her mother Susie. I asked which they liked best. Without consulting with each other, both Andrea and Susie picked "Crazy Love. " They each love the color and the name--Andrea was engaged and crazy in love.

After one failed color attempt, Robin cheerfully wove the scarves again with a new, limited edition color "Sun Fire" and our long-time favorite #44 Cashmere Rose.
These colors have enough value contrast for the color-and-weave to show.
For the stripes, we decided the magenta color would make a nice contrast, and selected #210 Berry Blaze.
Because it has taken a couple attempts to find the right yarn colors that "pop", Andrea and Andrew are now married, as of March 22, 2025. They continue to be crazy in love, which makes my heart sing with joy.
KIT DETAILS & ORDER KIT HERE
We are so in love with this scarf, we've made the warp length 5 yards so you can weave two scarves--one for yourself and one for a gift for someone special.
Your Limited Edition "Crazy Love" version of Huck Lace Meets Color-and-Weave Scarves Kit makes TWO scarves, each about 7.75" wide and 64" woven length (PLUS 6" fringe each end, before twisting).
Each kit includes:
--914 yds (84g) of Omshanti-Red (20/2 eri silk yarn), limited edition color "Sun Fire"
--906 yds (83g) of Omshanti-White (20/2 eri silk yarn), color #44 Cashmere Rose
--135 yds (13g) of Kiku (20/2 spun silk yarn), color #210 Berry Blaze
--Draft (both PDf & WIF versions)
Changing the yarns made a couple of differences:
1) Omshanti (eri silk) yarn blooms when dyed. Yet it still weaves with 24PPI using 24 EPI and has wonderful drape.
2) The eri silk yarn has a lovely drape, similar to Kiku (Bombyx silk yarn), which was the yarn used in the original version.
3) Robin's loom has minimal loom waste, so she was able to weave each scarf at 67" (measured under tension). This is longer than the 61.5" scarf length (measured under tension) published in the magazine.
