Hand-dyed Silk Caps in 'Blue Lagoon' colorway.

photo above: limited edition colorway 'Blue Lagoon' Silk Caps.

This is the first time we've dyed silk caps—we’re excited with how well the colors have penetrated a full 500g bell.

Think of caps as "silk hankies" but in a different shape that's 3-dimensional.

What are Silk Caps?
Caps are made from degummed cocoons that have been stretched into a cap-shape over an arched bamboo slat--or 'upside down U'.

Ten cocoons are pulled over the frame to make one cap. Enough caps are stacked on top of each other until the pile weighs about 500 gm (1lb).  A 500g pile of Silk Caps is called a "bell".

Use your favorite spinning technique for hankies when spinning silk caps.
