Brilliant hand-painted variegated silk threads and ribbon for your quilting, stitching and embroidery are the results of a collaboration between international fibre artist Judith Baker Montano and Treenway Silks.

A seductive variety of rich, soft, vibrant and dusky colourways was created created by drawing from Treenway's palette of 100 hand–dyed colours. Colour changes occur at 1½ to 2 inch intervals which produce painterly colour sequences.

The Montano Series is available in 3 types of silk thread:
• Buttonhole Twist (Fine Cord)
• 6 Strand Silk Floss (limited colourways)
• 8/2 Reeled Silk (equiv. to #3 Perle Cotton) (limited colourways)
and in 3.5mm wide silk ribbon.

Judith is an accomplished Canadian fibre artist, teacher, lecturer and author who grew up on the historic Bar U Ranch in the beautiful foothills of Alberta, Canada. Her career has taken her from painting to quilting to crazy quilting and embellished embroidery work.

Although her work keeps evolving, crazy quilting always appears in new designs and she has turned it into a contemporay art form. She is renowned for her landscapes, which incorporate all aspects of art and needle work techniques. Her work in all of these fields has taken her through the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and Japan.

Her art garments have graced many prestigious fashion shows; her work has been commissioned for international firms and has won many awards and been featured in numerous museums. Her designs have been featured in many magazines and presented on several TV programs. Judith has produced 4 tutorial videos and 7 books.

Each colourway comes in silk ribbons or threads. There are a total of 74 colourways and all colours are handpainted with care – however, some variation between dye lots can be expected. All the Montano colourways mix perfectly with Treenway's palette of 100 hand–dyed solid colours available in 10 yard lengths of embroidery thread and 5 yard lengths of silk ribbon.
